Perplexed Emotions

Image
Disfigured in imagination the reality rambles, A mystery hovers above as the heart goes still, The search for the destiny is all but in shambles, As the road grows dry and the lark goes shrill. The life goes forth to take ‘the road not taken’, We shudder, learn and act stout and stubborn, We labour, devout until the faith is shaken, And thence upon that moment a thought is born. Discomfited at the pounding the world has to offer, Almost hideous in a paroxysm of terror, This one thought manages to crawl and creep, ‘This is the one that changes it all’, says a voice down deep. As we strive to make the ‘dash’ a piece of history, To find a refuge in tranquillity for this vagabond, This very moment unravels the true phthysical mystery, It’s the journey and not the goal that helps you go beyond. ‘Why go beyond when the goal is reached’, asks the silly mind; Oh! Naive slave of logic, ‘Life is a journey, not a destination’, Don’t let the competition, rationale & lo...

Every time you fall, you got to rise, and rise above all, every time you lose you got to play again....coz it’s the player who wins and not the ones who give up. There’s this silly place we live in, the Earth....every time I try not to learn, it teaches me something different. Ego has to be swallowed and defeat to be accepted, for immortal was none. Death is what defines life. We rush for everything because we know we are all doomed to the same fate. End does not always seem near but it is a persistent fear, even a drive for some. We churn it all out because we fear for everything, even the next moment, the next morning. What if for once we began living it not for the fear of death or the fear of God but for the moment, for the mere pleasure of having been in that moment. ‘Living in the moment’ never means sacrificing long term goals. If you have got a dream, you’ve got a life. Imagine yourself standing in front of a mirror aged eighty; even if you’d have walked many a mile you’d...

Demigod to Devil - The Dark Knight

“You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” This is what I read about Sachin in an article by Jaideep in a sports site. Being a ‘Dark Knight’ fan and going through the string of comments on TOI and a plethora of “Retire soon!!” tweets daily, I couldn’t resist from throwing some light. The problem I feel is not with the people or with Sachin, it is part of the process of ‘Being Sachin’. After 23 years of nonstop cricketing brilliance, thirty three thousand international runs and now a hundred international hundreds, the biggest facebook debate was “Now will Sachin Tendulkar retire?” True, the hundredth 100 has been a wait, a long excruciating wait. It has seen the entire English debacle and the Aussie drubbing, then it also signified that even a Great Man needs to earn his achievements. As he himself said after completing his epic ton “It’s been a tough phase for me….because nobody talked about my 99 hundreds.” The retirement of Rahul Dravid...

Warning: This is a 1000 word post, but every word has a significant meaning.Read at your own risk. Everyone talked about the end of equality, the end of the govt’s thinking of the ‘aam aadmi’ and the notion of ‘India for the poor and weak’. They said that a group of foreign multinationals will make us all their slaves. They will ingurgitate all the local businesses and no one will be there to care for the meek and the destitute. The writing was pretty clear on the wall after the balance of payments crisis of 1991. Being a bania shopkeeper, Economic Times has been my only passion apart from money. I looked for every opportunity to earn money but all I came across in the early 90s was the economic crisis. The socialist policies that India had followed brought it to such a state it had to pledge 20 tons of gold to Union Bank of Switzerland and 47 tons to Bank of England as part of a bailout deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In addition, IMF required India to undertake ...
